Immigrate as a Permanent Resident

You must live in Canada for three years to become a citizen. You will be eligible to vote when you become a Canadian citizen.

Independent Class or Skilled Worker - The Skilled Worker program looks for foreign nationals whose education and work experience will help them to be economically established in Canada as permanent residents (landed immigrants). Applicants need to pass the point system that the Citizenship and Immigration Canada sets and must earn at least 67 out of 100 points. Funds are required for settlement as well.

Business Class - Business immigrants are individuals who can invest in, or start businesses in Canada and are expected to support the development of a strong and prosperous Canadian economy. This program looks for people who are experienced in business to immigrate to Canada. Selection is based on their ability to become economically established in Canada.

Family Class - Canadian citizens and permanent residents living in Canada, 18 years of age or older, may sponsor close relatives or family members who want to become permanent residents of Canada. Sponsors are required to promise to support the relative or family member and accompanying family members for a period of three to 10 years to help them settle in Canada.

Immigrate as a Temporary Resident

Employment Authorizations - This is for individuals who want to work temporarily in Canada and whose employers have received a job validation from the Human Resources Development Canada Center for a foreign worker.

Student Visas - Student visas are issued by an immigration officer. After a person is admitted, it allows them to remain in Canada to take an academic, professional, or vocational training course at an established university, college or institution.

Visitor Visas - Every year more than 35 million people visit Canada and are required to apply for visitor visas. Canada welcomes these visitors as tourists.
